I have read many posts and realize that Cabela's Guidewear is the best raingear out there. However, I cannot afford the price. I live in Nebraska and have hit the bargain cave in the Kearney store and it's still around $400 for the parka and pants. I've seen the PVC suit for about $40.00. I realize you get what you pay for, but has anyone had any experience with this type of suit or is there something else out there for a "working man."

I use a suit that goes by the brand name of Wet Skins, available at Walmart here for about 100$ so in the US I would guess about 60$. It is great stuff and does keep you dry and lasts quite a good while. As for PVC if it is what I think, you will get wetter from sweating in it on warm days than you would standing in the rain.

the wet skin 100$ (can).is a great suit!!!! still on the same pants- (5yr's) after a few years you may have to recoat them with a silicone water proofer but they are very good!!

These suits will work fine for several years depending on the amount of use. They will resist the rain, but don't seem to hold up to the wear and tear, and fend of the wind encountered with serious outdoor activity over a period of time. That's why suits like Guideware have a market. Be sure you dry them out after each use. Don't store them in the boat between trips. Hang it up in a dry place. Be sure to put a note in the boat so you don't forget it. (firsthand experience) Give the seams a shot of seam-sealer each year, but don't overdo it. Make sure that the seam-sealer will not harm the PVC. Columbia, Cabella, BassPro, and Helly Hanson all have some good suits in your price range. TGG
