I'm heading up to Rainy Lake this weekend, but I'm not sure if I want to bring my boat because I hear their are a lot of rocks up their to hit.

If anyone's been to rainy can you tell me if you think I would be ok.
I don't mind if I bump into a rock while fishing, but I don't want to hit one on plane.

P.S.
If anyone's been fishing up their yet how's it been.

Thanks

It's not too bad if you get a good map and are careful. I would stop at the bait store on the road going out to the landing and get a set of the multi page maps. I think the one I have covers from Ranier to Kettle falls and has a picture of a fishing boat on the cover. It runs about $30 but is well worth it. It is laminated etc. Most rocks are marked in red and bouys are indicated. Combine that with a good mapping gps and you can't go wrong.

Some camp sites have docks and some have sand shores. That is indicated on a separate voyaguers map that you can get for free at the landing.
good luck and let us know how fishing is. I usually go in july/august but was thinking of doing an earlier run this year.

Get a good map, follow the bouys, be careful when you leave the marked NAV line and you will do fine. There are plenty of glass boats on Rainy. TGG
