View Full Version : Need help with Mag. 315 GPS!
I have owned this device for a while now and still can't figure out how to work it. I have asked several people for help with it but nobody seems to be able to figure it out. I am beginning to wonder if I have a defective unit. If anyone has a Mag. 315 and will be in the PC/Catawba area Saturday night, and would be willing to help me out for a few minutes I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Ryan

What do you need to know about the unit?
I can not figure out how to get to a waypoint that has been entered into the unit. I go to waypoints, find the one I want to go to and then hit the goto button. However, I can't seem to figure out how to read it. I also cant figure out the plotter screen. I have a nice unit but can't operate it so it is doing me no good at all.

When you want to "goto" a waypoint, you press goto, then select your "user" waypoint - then your Nav screens will guide you to that waypoint with your choice of bearing, N/E/S/W, or the road screen. You can also on the plot screen set the scale to a small distance, say 0.5mile or less, and follow your "track"- this is handy only if you are returning to a spot - just dont clear the track 'till you know the route!
As for the plot screen, set the scale low...I use mine on 5-10km when driving, and less than 1km when in the boat. The plot screen just shows the area you are in (set by the scale) and the waypoints around you. I use it as I mentioned above, that is, to follow my tracks. All waypoints can be edited in the menu.
I would suggest you obtain a manual or better yet purchase the video ($15) to learn what that thing can do.
Thanks for the help, I will try to get the video because I already have the manuel. I am just wondering if I have a defective unit!
