After a year of research I am ready to buy a kicker for the boat it seems most everyone recommends the Yamaha T-8. Need to find out where I will get the best price. Is mailorder a possibility? Thanks.

Absolutely mail order is a possibility. Click the "Boats.net" banner at the top of the page.

First hand experience: Buy the motor from Boats.net when you know what size shaft you need and whether you want tiller or remote controls. Then rig it yourself and give yourself a pat on the back you you just saved $500.

You guys are right on so far, checked a few local dealers and there is about a $500 dollar diff from what boats.net charge. $2200 is still alot o money for a 8horse motor. Thanks.

I hear what you are saying about the price of the T8. You might consider looking north of the border. You can buy the T8 without the power trim & tilt and save several hundred bucks more. The down side is that this model is not offered in the States so you would not get warranty coverage here. You would have to take it back across the border to do so. I put 300 hours on mine this summer. It is a nice rig.

Take care,

Hi, mlc!.... The good news is:
The T-8 is offered without power tilt for 2002, in the USA. The model decsription is: T-8ELHA. We have them in stock.

Thank you mlc, for pointing out the Canadian warranty situation. As you might possibly recall, I was chastised quite pointedly and pretty much "boo-ed" out of the place last year when I mentioned that. ....:-).. So, I hope you don't catch Heck about it, too.

Thanks T-Mac. I am glad to see that it will finally be offered in this country. Actually, it seems that I was one of your antagonists last year, respectfully , that is. It was on your recommendation that I bought the T8.

The truth is that I purchased a boat and motor package in Canada. I paid $6100 for a Yammy 90(90TLRZ) and $1610 for a T8MLHZ. There is zero duty on a boat and motor package if it is made in Canada, even if the motors are Japanese. I brought back my Bill of Sale and Canadian Warranty Registration card and my local marine shop registered me with Yamaha US. This applied to the 90 only. They would not register the T8 because that model was not being offered in this country. They did transfer the warranty for the 90.

I do not know what to tell you. I've had a different experience than what you have been telling folks. I researched the issue prior to the purchase. The bottom line is, as I understand it, that a dealer can enter you in the US system and they will honor the warranty. To say that one cannot is false. It seems to be more accurate to say that some dealers WILL NOT!

I am not trying to argue here. Just presenting my experience. Could it be that your Regional Yamaha Sales Rep. is not being truthful with you because he does not want to lose sales to Yamaha Canada?

Please let us know what you discover.
