Just ordered a lund angler1700 with a yammi 115 4strk need some advice on what to put on it. I am considering a pinpoint 7420 graph with a 3700-50 motor for the front. Also an x15 on the dash, would greatly appreciate some input from anyone-everyone.

I had a 7820 with a 3700 motor up fromt and loved it! The power and refresh rare is great on pin points. on the dash I had an lms 350a. On my new boat I went with the xt15 on the dash and a 7520 up front!
I don't think you will go wrong with either unit.

Good choice for bow motor and locator combination, but as far as the X15 on the dash......well I personally think that the networkability of the two units far exceeds any perceived advantage of the X15 on the console. With GPS being available soon for the 7520, the better scroll rate, backlighting and other features of the Pinpoint 7520, I for one can't see any advantage in hooking up any other way. Not saying the X15 isn't a fine unit, but why lose the advantage of networked sonar units.

I have two Pinpoint units (7520 with transom transducer and a 7320 networked....no transducer). I'm not as pleased with the network capabilities and have stopped "selling" it as a positive point when people ask about it. The "slave" unit won't remember the last used settings so each time I turn the unit on, I have to walk up from and go thru about 6 menus to get to the same screen view that I have on the back. Pinpoint customer service told me to "deal with it"
The network capability was the main reason I bought the units. It would be just as easy to store the last used network settings as it is to store the last used transducer settings.

Do people really like the pinpoint trolling motor as compared to a Minn Kota or Motor Guide Trolling Motor. Is this really a good unit or do people only buy it for getting a trolling motor that will read and follow the bottom.

Wayne,
I've owned plenty of Minn Kotas in the past, and I'd get a Pinpoint even if it didn't have all the tracking capabilities. Pinpoints foot control is the fastest, most precise, and easiest to use that I've ever had. On top of that, my Pinpoints go almost twice as long as a comparable Minn Kota on a set of batteries. Something to do with better magnets and more armature slots in the motor....
