Will be installing a Yamaha T8 with remote controls on my TR205. I would like to install it on the port side of the transom, but I have been told that it might cause a port side list when on plane because of the added weight of the T8 and the motor torque of the Merc.225. all on the port side. Would anyone care to comment on this or have first hand experience with this set up? Thanks for the advice.

I have the T8 mounted on a Lund Tyee 1850 (150 hpdi) and I deal with the list to port now and then. Having the electric located on that side of the bow doesn’t help either. In my case, the list to port happens only intermittently and may happen in conjunction with some other factor like fuel level in the tank. Even at it’s worst, the list isn’t bad and doesn’t seem to affect the WOT speed. I too want the kicker on the port side and to me the pro outweighs the con.

Obviously you’re talking about a different main motor and a different boat – the problem could be worse (or better). So, if nothing else, I can just offer my agreement and say what you’ve heard could indeed be a problem.

I ran a 9.9 Merc on the Port side of a 2000 205 with a 225 Optimax.
It caused me little trouble, but I'm 245 so that may be why.

If it is a problem you can correct it by putting water in the live well on the opposite side. A very nice little hidden feature.

Good luck with the boat.
