I made the mistake of buying a Minnkota 50 lb. thrust electric without a maximizer on it. It drains my battery too fast.Is there an after market maximizer I can add to this unit?

Yes, Minn Kota made such a unit. I had one on the swap board about a month or so ago. Didnt get any interest in it so I sold it on Ebay. The guy took delivery on it last week. I got $38 for it. I would have given it to you for a lot less than that. Just wanted a WC'er to get it. It is a real nice unit if you can find one.

cabelas lists them in their new tackle catalog, but I don't remember how much they are.

Really...I will have to check that out for curiousitys sake. (If I ever get my tackle catlog! All I have recieved so far is for the one kind of fishing I dont do, fly:)). Figures! When I contacted Minn Kota to try to get a manual, they said they didnt make it anymore. Probably an updated model, then. Mine had variable remote control for speed, and a batt gauge. I think I paid $80 for it eons ago.
