Very interested in one of these, my local dealer has 2002 boat with 2002 yamaha 115 4-stroke, on shorelander trailer, full windshield and stand-up canvas from windshield back. Quoted me $16,900 does this sound about right?
Thanks

Sounds pretty good to me.I bought an 18 Alaskan tiller last may 2 year old boat with new trailer and new Yamaha motor. When i went for insurance the replacement cost was 16,000.This is Canadian price. My fiend has the 20 Alaskan with a 90 honda, windshield, very nice boat alot of room is what really turned me onto these boats.I'm pretty sure he paid over 20 for his.At any rate good choice you will enjoy this boat.FISH ON.

Where is this dealership? I may be shopping for that boat in the next year-and-a-half. With luck, this spring.
What's the trailer?
The price you have been quoted is not much more than our local Lund dealers want to charge at the turnstile in their door.

That be D&E sport shop in Roseau Mn., up near Lake of the Woods. I looked at the boat yesterday and called this morning for price. They were still rigging it. I've gotten sleds and ATV's thru there with Polaris employee discount, and they have always treated me well. The trailer was a shorelander single axle bunk type. If the price sounds good I'd rather buy local than travel to save a couple hundred beans anyways. In case of problems and any warranty work ya know what I mean? What do you folks think of those 115 yammy 4 strokers? probably just right hugh? I'm definitly gonna have mine before the spring bite on the Rainy!!! The wife said I can...YIPEEEE!!!! Perhaps the reason they have a good price on these is because I think they come out of Canada...not sure Though...and we're about 10 miles from the border. The boat is blue, that OD green might be more, but I have a duck boat!!! I may give a call back to see about cost rigged with T-8 kicker also.
Thanks for the replies

I've been looking at Tiller models without a motor and have been quoted anywhere from 9300 to 10,300 for the boat with a trailer with a swing-away tongue and surge brakes. One Dealer has mentioned a 1/25/02 Lund Factory price increase.
That's correct, all lund boats have just gone up 3% across the board.

I don't see the Alaskan with a full windshield (at the Lund site). Nor do I see it listed as an option. Am I just missing it?

you can get a windshield on any Lund console.

I don't recall ever seeing it in the annual brochure, but the walk-through windshield has been available for years.

NORTHERHAWK, That is a very good price for an Alaskan 20 with a Yamaha 115. I have the same boat with well over 30K invested in it.
It is for sale, check it out at this link.

Fish4u: Wow that is quite a set up. I have a 2001 Mr Pike 17. Last year when I was doing my reseach, I really wanted a walk-through windshield. But I did not really like the Prosport or the Fishman models, and I could not afford (or justify) ProV 19.
The 20' Alaskan may have been just the ticket.
I noticed that you have a hand controlled Maxxum in the bow. What do you think of it. I tried a foot controlled Maxxum last year, but could not really get used to it. I loved everything else about it.

I really like the MINKOTA, I have really nver been a big fan of foot controlled motors. I do not like stumbling over them (cables ect...) on the bow floor when slow trolling for walleyes ect..I have no problem tapping the motor with my hand turning it left, right, low. high, ect...
GOOD LUCK....

I had a 1999 20 alaskan with 115 merc and used it on lake erie. It was the wettest boat ever. It was nice to fish out of of but road like a bucking bronco. The floor kept coming loose, and console crack and had to weld it many times. Basically they are a definite bottom line boat and not for the serious angler. Not made for big water at all.

The price you were quoted for the ALaskan is as good as any I have found. I have been thinking about purchaseing the same type of boat and know the one you looked at at D&E. I have checked with 3 dealers in Canada and they all came in higher even after exchange has been figured. The dealer in Blackduck had the same quote as D&E. Good luck with you shopping.

I cannot comment on the price but I seem to recall Yamaha giving two extra years on their warranties, would not hurt to check

20 Alaskan, Yammy 115, dual walk through windshield, full top,"water ready" including galv trailer.
I have been pricing this exact set up (in Canada) and as described, I was quoted $22700 cdn last week. Don't know if that includes the 3% increase...
Do they have a web page? D&E?
Or an e-mail?
Thanks,
Jess
I would stay away from the alaskan if you plan on fishing big water. They suck in rough water I had one on lake erie and sold it with in a month. I then and went and bought a 20foot lund fisherman. Awesome big water boat. Was not that much more money.

JOE WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR YOU 20 FISHERMAN ?
WHAT MOTOR DID YOU GO WITH ?
Wait a minute. Some guys here are tearing down a pretty darn nice boat. These are SUV type boats. They are not tournament boats. I've been in 20 Ft. Alaskans on big water and while they are not pro v's, they are great all around, and very tough boats. As for riding bad, I must of had a good driver, because I thought it did an excellent job in Great Lakes swells. They are multipurpose boats, built for multiple uses. I'll bet your Pro V would suck in say .... a duck hunting situation. It would be unfair to say that because it's not designed except for one thing....fishing. You'd need two boats if you wanted to do both if you owned a pro v.Special purpose boats are just that...special purpose. If you bought one to tournament fish or strictly fish Erie, you either had a really good salesman, or didn't know what you were doing.

If you don't mind, where did you get the quote for $22,700.00. That works out to be about $14,500.00 american. I just received 3 candadian quotes and the cheapest was $26,715.00 or about $17,100.00 american.
By the way a pro-v makes an awesome layout tender for hunting diver ducks on erie. Especially 15 miles of shore. so don't knock it until you try it.

Yes, but can you hunt the ducks on open water FROM the Pro-V, when it's too rough for a layout, or you have more than two people?
You can from an Alaskan, because it's not red, black, silver, or white (unless you order the red color). It is marsh grass brown, large, stable, and has plenty of freeboard. I can't think of a single other boat model which shares those characteristics.
Furthermore, can you park your Pro-V just up the beach from where you are hunting (if you hunt off the beach)? Try that with a gaudy metallic fleck paint walleye boat, and watch the ducks flare away....park it far enough away so that they don't flare, and watch that crippled duck swim off before you can get to the boat and go chase it down...sure it's not as much boat as a Pro-V (not as wide, not as heavy, not as many fancy add-ons), it's just intended for different things - a lot of different things.

Layout tending with a ProV? In rough water, with those nice colors on the boat? Some people do have more money than sense.
By the way the color of the boat you have doesn't matter. It makes no difference hunting movement is all that matters. The alaskans are still junk no matter what you say and I know of at least 5 people in my area to back that up. They suck on big water.

Color makes no difference hunting? Movement? Now you are showing how much you really know about the subject. Movement is a definate concern, but if you don't think color matters, I suggest you try blaze orange next season. If color makes no difference, why do they sell so many face masks, camo creme, and a zillion different camo patterns?

If it is to rough to go 15 miles offshore in a Alaskan 20' it is WAY to rough to lay-out hunt.....
