For you guys out there that have a Ranger 619. What do you get for top end with a 200 Optimax and how is the ride in rougher water?
Thank you
I have 2001 with a 200 opti 9.9 kicker 57 on the gps for me
geo i was curious as to what prop you have on that motor because i was in the exact same rig this summer and on tight turn the prop would lose grip and really didnt like to be trimmed up to high. sorry i cant tell you the exact prop it was running but i was just curious which one you have because 57 mph is pretty fast for that boat so it must be trimmed up pretty high to get that kind of speed.

I dont have the opti but I do have the 200 merc EFI AND it runs about 50 to 55mph depending on the load I'm carrying and I'm running a 4 blade Trophy ss...redrnger
I run a Tempest 3 blade, top speed is usally around 57. I did hear that Ranger was having issues with some of thier molds for this unit. One boat would run 58 from one mold, one would run 55 from another with no explanation. Now this is only by word of mouth, so you have to take it with a grain of salt.
As far as ride...The ride is nice, but not what I expected. I came from a Champion Fishunter to the 619, and to be honest, the ride in the 619 was not a smooth. I have learned over the past two seasons how to adjust or drive the boat better in rough conditions. It would be interesting to go back and drive the Champion to see if my perceptions are correct. Just my two cents.

it has a 3 blade tempest on the opti thats what it came with after talking to alot of people about it they all said that was the best prop for that boat. if anyone has a better setup would love to hear about thanks

It's a rough riding boat in the motel parking lot ! It'll dump you right on your butt if you're not careful ! LOL
It sure seems there was a "mold" issue. Speed isn't everything, but my 619 does 53 or 54 GPS with one person and a Jackplate (200 Opti).
It sounds like Ranger has addressed the bow-heavy characteristics of the 619/620 for 2002. Anybody that's ridden 2000/2001 and the 2002's? I noticed Grandpa Joe is saying there's definitely a different feel with the 2002 620.
I agree with Wade, the 619 isn't quite as smooth of ride in rough water as I thought it would be. Some of this could be my driving, as I don't claim to be the best, but I've been around boats long enough to have a pretty good feel. I wonder if the tweaking Ranger has done has improved this with the 619?
Is there any open water yet??
I have to dissagree the ride in my 619 was everything it was suppose to be and more and a of mine friend has a champion fish hunter and after riding in that boat a few times it surely does not ride any better just my two cents worth
