Interesting thing happened this past weekend. While fishing in a remote northern lake with no interferance from any man made structures other than my boat, I was able to lock onto 7-10 sattelites on Fri aft/evening. On Saturday and Sunday, I was lucky to get three, rarely four, and once five, and went almost an hour with No signal at all. On Monday, I went back to a solid lock on 6-9 satellites.
I even went and stood on a rock island with no trees thinking it may be something in the boat - same results, no lock. I also kept the batteries fresh.
I called a local place that deal with the real high end GPS units in town - their reply was that the best signals were Mon-Fri, and on weekends some sattelites were actually programmed not to respond to GPS units and essentially inactive...Is this in fact true?
Did anyone else have difficulty getting a lock? Especially Sunday morning?
