I just got my new 2001 Lund pro-v 1800 and would like to know how you are keeping your tackle organized, are you keeping it Plano tipe boxes or Tackle logic binders or something else. Best way to get at your tackle stuff without having a big mess in the boat.
Thanks in advance

Nice boat I have a 1890LE I use a plano soft side with the plastic boxes for jigs, plugs and what not. I had some tackel buddies large for snells but now I'm using Cabelas snell case. I'ts very handy and comes in sizes of 50 or 100. I got the 50 because it seems as though I'm the only one in the party that knows how to tie them and since I do it know one cares to learn. I say ok buy them or tie them. We had a few learn last year. Have a good year on the water.

Congratulations on an excellent boat purchase.
In my Pro-V, I actually use the Plano tackle boxes that came with it for many jigs. Then I bought more of the same boxes (for more jigs, blade baits, jigging spoons), and I keep them in shorter side compartment. I then bought some larger Plano boxes for my rigs and rig components (sinkers, hooks, beads, floating jig heads, etc.) and my plastics (tubes, grubs, worms, etc).
I keep those in the same side compartment. Really the only thing I have sitting out in the boat is a Crank Bait box, and it is HUGE and soon will be out grown.
My boat is a 1900, so I do have a bit more storage, but, you get the idea. I just try and keep my different types of tackle grouped into those of the same type of presentation.
Once you get the boat full, it is time for a new boat!

IMHO - the single best tackle system out there is manufactured by a company called Marineline Products/ Shur-Sharp Company out of Park Ridge, IL Ph(708)692-4799. Do yourself a favor and search out Plano 3701 boxes vs 3700 series. 3701 = 1 3/8 deep vs 3700 @ 2" deep. With 3700 boxes - you end up with a lot of air. The beauty of the Shur Sharp bag is that the boxes stand vertically on end. You can fit 11(!!) 3701's in one of their bags. Since they go in the tall way, you have the smallest footprint possible. I've got two now. One in the bow w/ jigs, bouncers, floats and such and one in the back for cranks. I have four of the big tackle buddies which store perfectly in one of those soft side cooler bags meant for a six pack. Also one large bag for plastics by Bass Pro and one crappie bag for sinkers, hooks, swivels, snaps, etc. Everything has a place and is easily accessed. It's a pleasure to be able to find everything.
You may have to search for the Shur Sharp bag - but it's worth it. All the horizontal loading bags are a nuisance and you have to bend over further to get in there. I've had Plano bags which were good - but sold 'em after I found the ones I use now.
Congratulations on the new rig and hope this helps.

I troll crankbaits alot and I found that with the 3700 boxes I either had to have many many boxes, or I found myself putting 2 or 3 baits in each slot with lots of tangles. I decided to try one of the boxes advertised in the products section of walleye central by B&B tackle and they really work. I now have a box with about 125 baits in it that are not tangled up. My only fear is that if someone steals this box my insurance company won't believe me when I claim the value.
Good Luck

I looked at those B&B bags. Is 125 slots enough? If the slot is big enough for a bass style crank, do you end up w/ a lot of wasted space when you hang a thunderstick jr in there? Do/can you hang multiple baits in one slot? If yes, don't they become tangled if you chnage the orientation of the bag or it gets knocked over? The beauty of the Plano boxes is that the compartments are adjustable. You end up w/ little wasted space regardless of lure type(long stick bait w/ deep lip or short fat bass style bait). I myself don't have difficulty extracting a bait when there are 2,3 or more in a compartment.
If you only use 1 type of lure, then maybe B&B is the way to go. If you're like me w/ many styles for various types of fish, I still think Plano 3701's are the way to go.

I agree--the horizontal bags suck. Get a vertical soft bag sized to your needs. Rather than get a huge bag, I just take the plano boxes that I'll need for the day and leave the other boxes at home.

Steve: I agree 100% with your suggestion to use the Plano 3701 boxes as one has less wasted space. Marineline Products has changed their area code and they are now are at (847) 692-4799
I would like to find one of their Shur-Sharpe bags to organize my 3701 boxes. I like the sound of vertically taking the trays in and out.
