I have read threads before re. this subject but I can't locate them.
I am in quick need of a way to keep the gravel of Canada from chipping up my rig. Is there some kind of contact tape or ? that will protect my rig down some pretty nasty roads in Canada???
I have e-mailed the 2 companies that represent their product on W.C. with no response. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
The boat is leaving next Thursday.......Thanks in advance.

i just got a "skirt" from our local camper dealer. It fits onto the trailer hitch and goes the entire width of the back of your tow vehicle. It acts like a full mud flap that goes all the way accross the back end. It's made a real difference on the stone chips and it's super quick to remove. We paid around $115

This is the best I've ever seen for protecting the boat. http://www.townsendmarine.com/bulletins.htm

JoeFish,

Do you know what brand it is. I was looking at one that Cabela's sells that clamps onto your bumber. It sells for $65, but I would rather have one that slides over the hitch receiver. Steve

Sorry, I don't know that name of the skirt, but I think any camper dealer could help you out. They sell alot of these because they run the entire width of the towing vehicle and they're so easy and quick to remove, just pull out the hitch, slide it off and replace the hitch. It weighs less than 30#.
If you can't locate one, e-mail me and I'll give you the name of the dealer where I bought mine, he could ship one to you.

I finally saw a boat (ranger) with one of those rock gaurds on the trailer, got a mighty chuckle out of it as it drove by. You really gotta be secure with who you are to have one of those things.

Whatever you do don't buy that rock guard from Cabelas that sells for about $149, believe it or not I put one on my 97 Chev PU to protect my new Ranger 690T and it made it worse! go figure

Check out the bow buddy. It is a protection mounted on the trailer. It is at http://www.trailer-rockguard.com. If you live near Fargo ND, I can set you up with the area distributor.

Hey Dave, I have that same rock guard from Cabela's (Road Wing) and it really helps. If you did not trim it short enough with the razor knife, maybe it hits pavement once in a while and actually throws rocks up. I cut mine 2.5 inches above level pavement surface with my boat on tongue with full load so it was in its lowest position. You might even want to try 3-4 inches since your Ranger is probably heavier than my Lund and you may get greater deflection when you go over bumps. Give it another try with these thoughts in mind.

Mike: I made my own and it works very well. I got a piece of conveyer belt and cut it to the width plus 5" each side of my Yukon. You can make it as low to the ground as you want. Had to cut out where my hitch is so it fits higher on each side of the hitch bracket. Used a angled aluminum and mounted the belt on it just so angle, pointing down, would fit under the square tube of the hitch. I cut two more pices of angle, drilled four holes to match the width of the hitch. Slide the angle pieces into the square tube of the hitch and tighted with four 7/16 bolts. It does not slide when tight and is wider than the ones I could of bought. Keep it wide as possible as I as I found some rocks seem to bounce around if its not wide enough. Total cost is about $30. WS Nott Company has the belting in Minneapolis, but any material handling company has belting. I have made two of them for differant trucks. Good luck FISHING....Kaz
