I live in southcentral Missouri and have been looking at a number of deep v fishing boats. Will be fishing most in Stockton Lake. Want a walk thru windshield, at least 18' w/ convertible top. So far have looked at Targa 18 and Fisher 186FS. Opinions on these two boats? Also, though may sound silly, where do you put your rods when going from one spot to the next where they don't bounce around? Rod storage location on all boats I've looked at is not very convenient and think most folks won't use them when actually fishing. Appreciate any info.

The best storage rod locker, by far, is something fiberglass Targa's and Fisher FX's brought to the table quite awhile ago - center rod lockers. I love the center rod locker in my Fisher FX and have removed the rod tube system for even more space. I just keep my rods in socks (thanks Reelman) and this makes them extremely easy to add and remove.

Unless you are really set on aluminum, you might like at the fiberglass line. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Hope I didn't deviate too far from your original question.

Can't help you with the boat but...........the rods?

I have the verticle, polyethelene tube rod holders mounted to the boat (Fentress type). In this boat they are mounted inside the splashwell against the forward wall. Whenever we "run" the rods are up and out of the way and they are secure. In my previous boat I had mounted the Fentress holders in front of the dual consoles against that wall in the bow. Worked great there too!

I'm with you Ranger I got 2 18" Fentress holders 4 each on the front wall of the consoles. I also use the port side for the net as well.

Works nice, huh??

Plus! I think it looks pretty cool with all that stuff bristling out of the boat!!

I use the Rod Wrangler when going from spot to spot. Keeps everything off the floor and out of the way. Holds up to eight rods. They have an ad on this site somewhere. Cabela's has a similiar holder.

Just ordered a Rod Wrangler yesterday. Does it seem to handle well at high speed? My boat goes around 40 and I plan to keep the RW in either a seat base behind the windshield or in a seat base on the rear casting platform...
