How are these motors, will they hold up to all day trolling ? Looking to buy a new troller this spring. Any thoughts ?
I have a '97 Honda 9.9, tiller steer with electric start. I liked it so much, when I sold my old Lund a couple years ago, I kept it and put it on my new boat. It has never missed a beat.
I have heard many good things about the new Yammies though, so in the future I will have to take close look at those.
Good luck.

If you're going to use the little engine as a kicker on a heavy boat, get the brand with the longest prop blades. That's Yamaha. Bigger prop means more thrust, more control. But the lower-geared gearcase means less speed.
So, if it's a small boat, any brand will do and Honda is very durable. If it's for a kicker, Yammy will work better.

Buying a Yamaha will save some money as well, if that makes any difference.

I have a '95 15 Honda and it is truly a work of art. It trolls all day without skipping a beat, no fouling, no smoke and very, very quiet. I use it on my river/duck boat and it always starts and takes a beating. Below zero weather = 3 pulls and its running and never stalls.
