Waiting for the arrival of my new Pro Vee and have been shopping for Trolling Motors. I have always run a motorguide on my Bassboats with little if any problems when it comes to performance or interference with my depthfinders. LMS-160 & X-85. I am intrigued by the Minnkota Genisis. I will be fishing Erie 70% of the time, Local lakes 20% and canada the rest of the time. It seems it would be awfully nice to be able to deploy & run the trolling motor and not leave the back of the boat. Has anyone ran this unit? What trolling motors are you running and what shaft length?

If your fishing erie, you might want to get an auto pilot. You can put it down, oint it in the direction you want, put your kicker down in the back, and the auto pilot will keep you on track if waves or wind knock you off course. Give me more time to fish instead of steer. The cable will go al the way in the back, I think it has an 18' cord.

I would go with the Genesis. Super motor, and like you said you can deploy the motor from anywhere in the boat. I had the oppertunity to help field test this motor when it first came out, pretty cool unit. And now that you can get the transducers built right in, you can't go wrong.
