Spinning Reel Gear Ratio??

Out last night looking at new spinning reals and found various Gear Ratios. For example Pinnacle DeadBolt is 3:1, the Shimano Sahara is 6:1. What are the benefits of each of these?

Lower ratio provides more power, like driving up a hill in 2nd gear. Good for pulling big fish out of weeds, etc.

Higher ratio provides higher retrieve rate, like driving down the highway in overdrive. Good for fast retrieves.
