I know this is an older unit but I have one
that's never been on a boat. My Furuno died
and was going to replace with this eagle but
I thought I would ask you'all what you think
of this unit? I have also thought about buying
something new due to tech improvements?
Let me know ...much appreciated
Thanks

Tim,
I have an Ultra III. I use it as a back up to my Garmin 240. I think it is an O.K. unit but I have never gotten it to show fish arches very well at all. I think is has 160 vertical pixels and 600 watts of peak to peak power. Your unit I'd guess is about the same. As for a new unit I'd stick with your Ultra until you have the money to step up to a bit more expensive finder. Garmin 240's are about $300. Lowrance X 85's are about $450 or perhaps a little less. Both are excellent for the price in my opinion. Both will also draw fish arches. My buddys X85 does pretty well and my 240 does very well. I may have my 240 set up better than he does. We both have Crestliner 1750's. The Garmin and the Lowrance have similar pixels and power. I would suggest that you not go for a unit below these in power or pixel count. You'd just be wasting dollars on a unit that won't give satisfactory performance in the long run.Would really not be an improvment over your Ultra Plus, and ultimitley you'll wish you'd have waited to get a better unit. There are cheaper units out there. I tried alot of them, never liked any.

I got a great deal on a new ultra classic a couple of years ago and put it on my boat, I really liked it. I had great confidence in what it is was showing me, and I often graphed fish (arcs). If you don't want it let me know... I would welcome it with open arms.
