I have a couple questions about Amsoil. A friend of mine was telling me that Amsoil lubricates so well. That it isn't recomended untill after Break in. But after, it is the only way to go. Is Amsoil really that better than Quick Silver, or Yamalube for the new Direct Injection? Second, If these engines use less oil, as stated. How do they stay lubricated? Will these engines last as long as the older 2 strokes? What is the life expectancy on the new technology?

Thanks,

Dwight

See the article about outboard oils in the new Trailerboats magazine. As a rule, synthetics lubricate better than "normal" oils, but it's the additive package that's most important, especially for two stroke engines.
Amsoil seems to have a good product, but I don't use it because almost everyone who sells it wants me to become a "dealer" under their distributorship. It reminds me of that other "Am" company whose products are generally good, but "way" overpriced.

Not to compare the two, but that is what I run in my Duramax diesel. The service manager was telling me that if my motor has a leak in it that oil will find it. Must be good stuff
