I would like to know what people do for Boat insurance in several circumstances. While trailering: Are you covered under your vehicles insurance in the case of a collision only, or will insurance cover the boat if it falls off the trailer for instance. On the water: Collisions only, or is damage due to rocks, or just heavy running covered? In the Garage: What is covered if the garage burns down. Finally, does anyone just plain go without insurance and just hope for the best?

Sorry for the long post. Any information would be helpful. Also, suggestions on insurance suppliers would be helpful.

Thanks
Dan

As long as your boat is attached to your tow vehicle, your car/truck insurance will cover any damage to any other vehicle you hit. Your boat insurance will cover damage to your boat. Your vehicle insurance WILL NOT cover damage to your boat! While you're on the water, your boat insurance is in effect. As far as hitting rocks or any other object, a accident is a accident. If it does'nt cost too much I'd pay for it out of my pocket, otherwise file a claim. I'm not sure which covers your boat if your garage burns down. To be on the safe side, buy boat insurance, you've got too much invested to risk it.
