I am looking at getting some pole covers for my trolling rods and such. Do any of you use pole covers on two piece rods?
I have to break my trolling rods down to get them in the rod locker and they get all tangled up. I once had a tip bust off because another reel was bouncing on it.
I was looking on the products page and saw some covers that go over the whole rod and reel. And they make them in custom sizes and colors. Do any of you use these? They look like a good idea, and it will keep me from snapping another tip off on the way out to troll. Thanks.

I have had my mom make my pole covers out of just knit material that I bought at Walmart for $1 a yard. They cover the whole pole and reel. They have some elastic on the end that hold them over the reel.
Very inexpensive and they work great. You can really pile the rods and reels together and have protection and not worry about the tangles.

I've found rod socks the best way to keep my rods from getting tangled inside my rod locker. Both Cabela's and Bass Pro have them for cheap. I have Cabela's, but I hear Bass Pro's have adjustable straps to accommodate for rods of different lengths.

I have the ones from Bass Pro and they work great - plus they were $1 cheaper from Bass Pro($3.99) vs Cabela's($4.99). They would work w/ two piece - you just have a little extra material flopping at the end. I suppose you could snip it and stitch it closed if it bugged you. I prefer the slick nylon vs the stretchy material some socks are made out of. They sure make it easier to stow and remove rods. When not in use, I stuff them back in the locker or tie it in a 1/2 hitch around the steering wheel.

These past few weeks I have used both the Cabelas version as well as BPS.
Cabelas is a buck or so more and BPS has an adjustable strap vs the Cabelas with is just comes in two different lengths.
I go tired of 6-8 rods in the locker and the tangle. These socks which I just starting using, seem to be the ticket for that problem.
These cpvers work great. We use them on all our rods and dont have any more tangles. When using on a two piece you could tie a knot in the end to make the sock shorter-fitting tighter.

Yes, they do work great,I can about 10 poles in the rod locker without them getting tangled up on my Mr Pike. Make sure you the lure cover for any exposed hooks. I also write on them what is in each one.
Good luck, moreyes

Wow, thanks for all the reply's so fast. I am looking specifically at the M&M Pole covers here on Walleye Central. They also have a free lure wrap with each cover so tangles and snags wont be a problem with leaving a lure on.
I like the custom lengths and colors idea as then I can color code my rods and grab them with a glance.. Thanks for all your help! Walleye Central rocks!
