View Full Version : Another charger question
I am going to buy a new charger. My question is do I buy a 10 amp/bank or a 15amp/bank charger. Anyone out there buy the 10amp/bank and wish they had gone with the 15amp/bank or vise-versa. Thanks.

One consideration I had was a warning/reccomendation from the battery manufacturer (Optima) that I limit the output to 10amps...You should consider your long term...what batteries will you be using in the future.
I went with the Optima batteries because of "durability" and "zero" maintenance...www.optimabatteries.com...

Your charger is going to trickle at about 2 amps most of the time. The only time you will get max amperage from the charger is if you are totally dead or manually put it at 10/15 for starting.
I would stick with the 10, should be more than you'll ever need.

To be honest, the charging time is about the same with a 15A and 10A rated chargers. Most chargers charge a group 27 battey from 50% discharge in about 8-10 hours regardless of output rating.
DuraCharge has the best set of Smart features in the industry with patent-pending Automatic 2 Amp (A2A) Equalization and True Temperature Compensation. The benefits are simple -- Stronger Performing Longer Lasting Batteries. A2A removes sulfates bringing new life to old batteries and preserving new batteries. True Temperature Compensation allows for precise charing and maintenance during long periods of storage.
Long Term Maintenance Mode keeps batteries in like new condition during long periods of storage. Most batteries die in storage on the trailer in the garage. With DuraCharge, batteries are just as strong in the Spring as they were the previous Summer. Just plug it in and forget it.
DuraCharge was the first to offer a (3) year warranty on all their battery chargers. Since, chargers may sit around on dealer shelves for months, DuraCharge gives you (3) years from date of purchase (just hold on to your receipt).
