I am going to purchase a new boat this month and want advice or recceomendations from Ranger 619 and 620 owners. I am already committed to the Ranger so please do not recommend any other brands.

I fish Lake Erie most of the time but I need a good all around boat for fishing rivers and Mille Lacs as well.

Which boat do you reccommend?
What are the advantages or dis-advantages of the two boats?
Is the 620 too big?

Thanks for your help.

The 620 is 8" longer and 2-1/2" wider, not a lot of diference. But it will take a 225 where the 619 won't. So that may make a diference to you. Storage is more limited in the 619 as well. The 620 is definately not too big. Good luck

I went from a 690 to a 620, what a difference.I fish Leech lake,LOTW,and the Raineyriver so the 620 is not too big for me. Also more storage, personally I would go for the 620,very good boats either way.

no replacement for displacement - that goes for HP and room IMHO. if you have the ability to buy both, you owe it to yourself to have the 620, specially on all those big waters. i fish missip, mille lacs, rainy lake and river and LOW, and absolutely love what the 620 does. the 619 will do all things as well, but for room, there is no replacement i feel.

I was told by a friend that "old guys buy the 620 and young guys buy the 619"... How old do you feel??

Good luck

I have a 620 with Glyde-Ryde seats and if you are a young angler, you will stay that way longer with the combination. both boats are top quality and will handle big water well. You would be happy with either and if you are going to Lake Erie or LOTW or Green Bay, I would opt for the 620.

You will be happy with either boat but given the bodies of water that you will be spending most of your time on. Bigger is better!! Go with the 620.

I've had the pleasure of fishing most of the lakes mentioned in a 619 and a 690692. I have been on Green Bay in a 619, a 620 and a 690. I have been on lake erie in a 619 and a 620. I have a 619 because it seems to fit the way I fish very well. If I was primarily going out on big water like Erie, Green Bay and Mille Lacs, I would opt for the 620 because the ride is a little better in rough water. Plus, if you are doing a lot of open water trolling, the extra room in the back of the 620 is a plus. Which ever one you choose, I'm sure you will love it.

I ran a 619 last season and loved it,but I am running a 620 this season just because I am finding myself gravitating towards bigger and bigger water, don't get me wrong the 619 handled Mille Lacs just fine but required a little more finesse on the throttle when you got into some bigger waves, where as the 620 really begins to shine and come to life in a 2' plus chop. Either way you can't go wrong, but from what you describe you want the boat for I would lean more for the 620. Good luck and have a great season. Matt

Sounds like the 620 is the clear choice. If this is for a one time ND Retailer, I thought this is what you would find out. As I said before, I love my 619, but the 620 I was in seemed to handle the rougher water better and was much faster. When are you coming to ND to fish?

I don't believe I've ever heard anyone say they bought too big of a boat, or "I wish I would have gotten the small motor."

I've had (2) 620's and my third should be here any day. I have fished in 40 acre lakes with them, and I've fished the Great lakes with them. Both are great multi-speicies boats and you'll love either one, but I'll tell you this. I've done a number of test drives for people with both boats and nearly every person has decided on the 620 when it came right down to it but your scenario may be different.
I don't know where you're from, but maybe the thing to do is to try and set up a test drive of both boats.

I am currently running a 620 and had a 619 last year. While the 619 will handle Lk. Erie, the 620 has more room for trolling and Lk. Erie can make any boat feel small. Go with the 620, you won't be disappointed. In this case, bigger is better!
