A couple questions about the Maxxum.

(1) I used a Maxxum last summer some, but I cannot recall what happens when you set the motor to run (full time) and then take your foot off of the pedal. Is there enough resistance to keep it going the the set direction or does the motor spin or turn. Is there an adjustment for this to set more resistance?

(2) Someone who has the removable Cabela's Maxxum mount. I need to know how long the mount is, so that I can check the space on the bow of my boat.

Thanks for your assistance.

hey rick,

there is an adjustment, to a point. but if there are waves, it will not hold a straight line. it will walk off to the side. i strap two very short bungee cords to the deck that wrap over each end of the pedal tight, but not too tight so i can't push down either end. this holds the pedal in the straight ahead position for those ocassions.
i rarely leave it running in that mode. if i leave to net a fish or get bait etc., i just let it drift. in very windy situations, i simply hold the motor until the last minute to net the fish for the other person or i make sure i have all i need within reach so i don't have to leave.

I saw a new MAxxum Today with built in universal sonar.. There is a small cable that runs from the footpedal to the bow mount transducer I was thinkin of gettin one, but hoping this little cable does not get in the way.

On the Autopilot the universal sonar cable runs from the head of the trolling motor. I could be coiled together with the main cable that runs from the head to the mount for a neater look. Just a thought.
