View Full Version : flutter spoon with bottom bouncer
I saw a TV fishing show that used a flutter spoon between the bottom bouncer and the worm harness. Has any one tried this combination?

I haven't done it, but bought the In-Fish PWT video for 2000 season which showed a bunch of boats doing just that. Seems to be pretty standard now - maybe more for stained water? It's meant to act as an attractor.
I use a flutter spoon/crawler harness combo alot on Saginaw Bay. Not just on bottom bouncers though either.
The rig is fairly simple, and the spoon is only an attractor. Wayne Blair basically started this trend out on Saginaw Bay and becuase of it's effectivness it caught on.
You take the hook off the flutter spoon and attack the front end of the spoon to your swivel on your bouncer that goes to your harness usually. Then at the back of the spoon you connect the harness. This uses the spoon to flutter and flash getting attention to the rig and as the fish near it they see the harness and hit it.
Works very well for big and small fish.

As the previous post stated, is this for stained water or just another presentation?
Also,I would imagine that this requires some ball bearing swivels to prevent line twist, correct?
Thanks
I use the flutter spoons during all kinds of weather and they prove productive in clear water, stained water, and inbetween.
Stained water might prove to be better on different bodies of water using the flutter spoons. It draws a fishes attention, and the flutter spoon will do that for you.
Ball bearing swivels are necessary to run this rig. Line twist without them will be a major hinderance and cause severe problems in your presentation.

What size should flutter spoon do you guys use? Any certain colors more productive than others?

I appologize for that multiple posting from yesterday. My computer is actin gup and must have sent it multiple times.
The flutter spoon size? Well I used the small casting spoon sized stinger spoons usually. But don't be affraid to use spoons like a normal sized Salmon spoon or even a magnum sized trolling spoon.
