My wife and I are planning to go to Devils Lake fishing this weekend. Anybody got any tips on how and where to be fishing for walleyes. We have a 1700 Pro Sport 115 which can get us around. What ramps are the best to use. We have heard some scary stories about boats getting damaged or swamped trying to load onto the trailers during high winds.

This time of the year the fish wil be in the trees.
Most common technique is to pitch jigs and cranks.
Bring lots of the following:
#5 & # 7 shad raps and shad raps rs
Huskey Jerks(or similar stick baits)
1/8 oz jigs w/ twister tails.

Good colors are Firetiger, Clown, Blue/chrome

If the fish move out you'll want to bring cranks or bouncers/spinners.

An almost standard jig for tree fishing at D.L. is those 10/$2 packs from Walmart. You will lose enough that you won't like replacing the 2/$1.49 variety.
