Has anyone used or uses Mac's River Runner? I am taking my boat to a shield lake, and would like to protect it from the rocks. My questions are, how much does it affect speed, and after I return from the trip, can I take it off and run without it until the next trip to the great white north?
Thanks!

I posted a similar question on this board several months ago and didn't get a response. Further, I emailed Mac's and asked the same questions and didn't receive a response. Those responses (lack of) answered my question!!!!!

I dont know what size motor you have, but I would think if your up on plane, and you hit a reef or a rock it would take off the gaurd along with your lower unit...
You might be better just bringing a spare prop.

I dont know about useing it on a bigger motor,It not going to do anything against granite. It`s more for a river with gravel. Drilling holes in the skeg will only weaken it. Spare prop and takeing it easy untill you get famillar with new water is the best thing to do.I know fishing time is precious up north but if you take a couple of hours, drive around slow, It might save a vacation from being a loser. Thru "Google" search engine, typed in "prop guard" one of the sites came up with www.floridaconservation.org, which had a page on prop guards. Might be worth your while.
