Mounting kicker

Just looking for some imput from some of experts out there. Will be purchasing a kicker this spring, and am debating to go with a remote or tiller. If I decide on a tiller, should it be mounted behind the drivers console or opposite. Any help you all can offer is apprciated as far as experiences with this setup and control.

My last rig I had the kicker on the starboard side on a center console boat and that was a tiller model. The new boat is a remote and it's on the port side.
