I am currently rigging up 2002 Ranger 619. The guy who owns it wants a Garmin 168 transon mounted tranducer w/ the paddle wheel. My question is that Ranger's transon is curved and has no perpendicular area to mount this transducer so what have you guys/gals done? The only place I see where it can go and be clear of the prop turbulance is right nest to the chines. Please help.

On my 620, both transducers are mounted on the back where the drain spouts are located. This has worked well for my X15 and X85. I ran the cables by close to where the engine conects onto the boat back under the VS part then down next to the drain spouts. I used clips to keep the cables tight and neat.

I just talked to a guy from MW MARINE. He says they install all there transon mounted transducers right nest to the chine. I told him that the transducer would look crooked at that location. He said it was fine there except you will probably lose bottom at about 50 MPH. I also question, not that you are wrong, the location that you put yours at. Do you get any turbulance from that location?

No turbulance on the screen. Works well when I am slowly moving and looking for fish.

I had the same problem with mounting the speed wheel on the transom of my 619. I ended up cutting a 'wedge' out of Delrin material (plastic), so that the paddle wheel is perfectly in line with direction of travel. Without this wedge I was wearing out the paddle wheel bushing on one side because of the side thrust caused at high speed. A compound miter saw cut the wedge.
