Does anybody have any experience with these?

I am looking for a good quality medium light outfit and have it narrowed down to a Loomis GL2, Jeff Fore Custom Rod with a St. Croix blank, or a Fig Rig Fiber Select SB 661.

I plan on spending maybe around or over a $100 on the rod and putting on a Deadbolt Limited 30.

If you go back I think Aquaman posted some info about these rods recently. Sounded like the first impression was very good.

I own two Figrig rods and they have become my favorite rods to use. The sensitivity is just great and the actions are useful for many types of fishing.

Am I on the right track in assuming that these Fig Rods have fiber-optic strands wrapped with-in the graphic layers? Steve (IA)

Yes, They have fiber optic strands from tip to butt. It makes an obvious difference in sensitivity over other rods.

Hi EricCo,
Fig Rig rods are as close to a custum made rod as you will get without paying the custom made premium. If you can live with either handle choice and not having your name written on the rod, they are custom made. Each blank is hand "spined" for proper guide allignment and maximum casting distance and acuracy. Then the guides are hand tuned to each blank's curviture, minimizing "line slap". They are then hand tied to the blanks and completely finished by hand. Right here in good 'ol Minnesota. You will not find a better value in a fishing rod than you get with Fig Rig. Drop me a line if I can help answer any questions. -Tom

Think about it. A St. Croix rod for less than $100.00 Customized the way you want it? I strongly recmmend that you get your rod from Jeff.
I have him building me 2 rods. Last year he built me a St. Croix legend and I was so impressed with his work I am having him build me 2 more rods. His prices are far from over priced and he makes sure that you get what you want. He only uses top quality guides and reel seats.
Post this to the Walleye list and see what kind of responses you get.
Save some money and get a custom built rod!

Have you used any of theses rods on the mud flats of Mille Lacs? If so, which one do you prefer and why?

Thanks.

Eric, I just got my second rod last week, the Pro 661, and used it over Easter Weekend at the cabin for a little crappie fry. Though most the fish were not interested in my plans for a fish fry, I did acquire a few crappies and some fat little sunnies. The long and short of it is that the Med-Lite action of the 661 was so smooth and quick that it made fishing a real treat. I never lost a fish from slack line but I never felt like I was horsing the fish, either. A few small northerns also thrilled me with some early spring acrobatics and the rod never flinched. I am so happy with this little outfit in Grand Rapids. Get the FigRig and you won't regret it. Call them today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are these still around? I need another Medium Light as a rod tip got snapped the other day. Would like to match it to the ML Fig Rig I got after this post.

Nope! They went out of business a couple years ago. So much for their lifetime warranty! I get a kick out of all the new rod makers and custom rod makers trying to hype their rods with a lifetime warranty. THe warranty is only as good as the company and only lasts as long as the company is in business.

Darn it.

I guess I'll go to wal mart. LOL
