View Full Version : Where Are All Of The Older Boats For Sale?
When I go the "Boats For Sale" section of the classifieds on this board I'm left with the impression that nobody uses a boat anymore unless it's 20+K (which I do too) but I'm looking for a good second boat and wondering where all of 4K-10K boats are? How about a gently used Lund Stinger, Angler II, Explorer, ect? in the 4K-6K range?

Last spring I was asked to help a friend find a good boat for less than $3,500. We looked at so many boats that were severely overpriced that we began to feel it was hopeless. But we kept looking and several months later we found a good boat at a fair price, over his maximum dollar amount slightly but a well cared for boat. The soaring prices of New boats has indeed inflated the cost of used boats. I'd be willing to bet that some folks are selling their used boats for the same amount or a little less than they payed for them several years ago. What I find stange is when you talk trade at the dealer your boat has no value, but the price of the one your looking at is could finance 2 kids college educations. Thanks for letting me vent......

Hey Mike, I don't know if this is cool or not but my boat should be up on this site within a day or two. It's a 1994 Ranger Cherokee under $10,000.00, very low use and great shape. When I bought it two years ago from my buddy I felt the same as you. TOO much money for most! Anyway, I love to fish, love this site and would love to pass my boat on to a worthy new owner before picking up my new one.

Hey Mike,since you already have a boat,give me first chance at one of the 4k-6k range boats ha,ha.I have been looking in the classifieds daily for about a year now and have not found one yet,but I'm gonna keep on looking.

I have an 1989 1700 Pro V w/ 60 Evinrude tiller. Great boat at a good price. It also has new Minnkota transom mt, 2 rod holders, Eagle ultra graph, three airride seats, splashguards, 2-lockable rod lockers, lockable electronics compartment. Let me know if you have interest.
