The boat: 1985 Lund Tyee5.3 (17') 80hp Merc (I know under powered)
The NADA guide says the hull is about 1100 lbs.
motor 360 lbs (?)+ 15 gal fuel tank and batteries
I am estimating total around 1900 lbs.
The question: I've run across a deal on a 2600# Spartan tilt/roller trailer, used twice a year by a lake home owner, once to
launch once to store for 5 years. It has 13" tires (like new)
Is this enough trailer? I usually fish local lakes 20 mile radius to my home, with 1 trip in the summer of only 150 mi. each
way.
I really could use some practical advice, thanks.

Jimbo check with spartan to see if that is enough trailer. It seems like it would be but the 13" tires would be my only concern. Also be sure and pull the hubs before purchase because if he never had them repacked it could be so corroded inside that the bearings and races and seals will need to be replaced before you can go anywhere more than a couple of miles without wrecking the spindles. Maybe he will spring for the parts and you do the work or you will need another trailer to get it to a shop. Even after only 1 year they will be rusted badly if it sits all year. This is from experience with my inlaws cabin and boat trailers that were used exactly like that and then taken on a fishing trip in July and wrecked the spindle. I checked each year just before trip for 10 years and they were rusted each time and had to be replaced every year after that. It must be something to do with the sitting in the weeds all year.
Hope this helps

I can only second that post.
The trailer should be enough, but I too wonder about the 13 inch wheels. If the trailer is okay'd by the mfr, don't sweat the wheel size.
And DO check those bearings! Repack them, or replace them right away. Get good bearing buddies too. For a handful of cash and a few hours, you wont be dragging the trailer frame down the freeway.
Have fun..........R

Thanks,
I picked it up last night, $650, It has buddies on it and the guy seemed to take good care of his stuff. I spun the wheels and they felt good before I went for home. I will be pulling them for at least a visual before I do the transfer to this trailer.
I think this will do the trick for me.
