Looking at 2001 Lund 1700 Angler with the Lund v hull, the older style hull ,as compared to a Lund 1675 with the new IPS hull. Was wondering what type of a ride the 1700 Angler has, is it a dry riding hull. Ive had two older Lund Mr Pike 18s and my 1995 was a very wet ride when you encountered any kind of wind , wheras youd get spray blown back on you even when you were taking it easy. The 1700 Angler looks like more boat for a small upgrade in price, but since its a 2001 with the older v hull [ not the new IPS ] was wondering what experience owners had , or how does the IPS hull handle ?

I have a 2001 1700 Angler tiller. It is a wet ride, but for me that's just part of the fun. IMHO the IPS hull doesn't make much difference in this size boat. I went with the Angler because it has much better storage than the Explorer and was only $500 more for the boat. I also like the wider gunnels.

Fred what motor do you have on your 1700 angler and how does it perform?

Mike,

I went with the 75 hp Mercury 4 stroke (Yamaha powerhead). I Absolutely love it. I run between 38 & 40 mph with just my self, a full tank of fuel and all my gear(lots!). Goes down to around 35 mph with 2 people on board. The four stroke is so quiet I've even tried to start it when it was already running. Ouch! It performed flawlessly all last year. Looking forward to the same this year. Hope this helps!

I too was in your shoes last year and went with the 1700 Angler tiller. With 70 HP Yamaha 2 stroke, knowing what I do know I would own the same boat but 4 stroke Yamaha. I looked at resale and the angler will fetch more money down the road, for the very reason you like the angler better right now. If you want a dry ride buy glass, I think the difference in the two lunds is like splitting hairs wet is wet!!
GOOD LUCK!!
