I'm looking at a 2001 1700 Angler side console. I've seen Lund's 2002 brochures but can't find the particulars on the 2001 model. Is there anywhere that I can find this info (length, beam, hull weight, storage compartments, etc.). Aside from not having the IPS hull, in what other ways does the 2001 differ from the 2002?

Will I be happy with the V hull? The dealer is selling this rig considerably cheaper than the new ones so I'd probably have to go with the 1675 Explorer if I went with a 2002 model. The leftover Angler with a Merc. 115 4 stroke is only a few bucks more than they want for a 2002 Explorer with a 90 HP 4 stroke so it seems like a no-brainer but I want to be sure if the 2001 is going to make me happy.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a 2001 1700 Angler tiller so I'll try to help you out. There are three main differences in the 2001 model compared to the 2002. The 2001 Angler is 4" narrower in the beam (88" compared to 92"), and has a 28 gallon fuel tank instead of a 32 gallon. The other major difference is, as you said, the IPS hull. My experience is that in a boat this size the IPS hull is not a big deal. The 2002 also includes interior lighting which the 2001 does not. The interior lights can be added for around $100.

With the 115 four stroke I would think you should get around low to mid 40's for speed. My 75 four stroke runs mid to upper 30's. Overall, an excellent boat. Sounds like the price is right also. Hope this helps!

Thanks Fred, that's what I needed to know. I presume that the storage compartments and livewell layout are about the same?

I have a 1999 1700 Angler SS with a 75 Honda, really like the boat. Not sure how it might differ from the 2001. I run about 32-34 MPH typically with the rig. Has been a great boat for me!

You are correct. The livewell and storage compartments remained the same. Really a great set up. Plenty of storage space and the livewell works fine.
