How does the 7820 screen brightness compare to the 7520. I have heard that the 7520 has a brighter screen that the 7420 but I wonder how the 7820 compares. By the specs the 7820 has almost 50% more pixels per square inch which should translate to a higher screen resolution but I am wondering if it has the effect of dimming the screen. Any help would be appreciated.

The 7820 has serious screen problems in sunlight. Pinpoint suggested I "upgrade" to a 7520 rather than trying to fix mine. The screen gos nearly black. Perhaps the newer units have this problem fixed. All my problems occured when the unit was new--replaced 3 times and still not right. I was boiling mad that a new unit with a 2 year warranty would not be fixed by the manufacturer. Avoid the 7820.

I agree with the above post in regards to the 7820. I have a 7520 on the bow and a 7820 on the console. The 7520 is clearer and I have had no problems reading it in bright sunlight. The 7820 is another story. I am always fooling with it to be able to read it in sunlight and most of the time can't do it. It is such a headache that I am biting the bullet and replacing the 7820 with a 7520. Mark

I had a 7820 - had it worked on by the factory 3 times, replaced twice, and finally replaced it with a 7520.

Basically, the problem is a design specification issue. When pinpoint designed the 7820 - they did not specify that the disply had to work out of doors in direct summer sunlight - up to 150 degrees F.

The vendor supplied a display with the same technology that is used on lap tops that have a top end temperature margin - of 100 degrees F - "shaded".

Even with software tweaks, heat sensors to change voltage - display settings, they could never to get the display to be readable to my satisfaction.

I replaced it with a 7520 and have been completely satisfied with the unit.

Take care

Anyone have any experience with the 7500 for a bow mount. Wondering if it has the same screen problems as the 7820. Thanks for the heads up on the 7820. Almost bought one.
