I am leaving for a fly-in trip next week to NW Manitoba and one of the primary species we will target will be big lakers 20-35 lbs. Since the fish should be shallow this time of year, we will be trolling and casting in shallow water. What baits would you bring for trophy class fish? Big/small spoons, flatfish, stickbaits, Mepps/size?, Dodger and fly/hoochie, flasher and ?, flies (I am bringing my 9 wt fly rod for pike too). I have no interest in numbers of trout under 10 lbs. so one goal would be a bait less attractive to small fish. I'd bring it all but we are very limited in weight.

What lake are you going to? I used to work at a camp in Northeast Saskatchewan so I might be able to help you.

I've been to the Arctic 5 times fishing for lakers. We always had great success with the old standbys, Daredevle Husky Devles and the next size up, what we call "license plates." Bigger baits equal bigger fish, even way up in Canada. The five of diamonds pattern has always produced.
