I am as confused as a blind lesbian in a fish market concerning the 24V hookup for trolling motor. I helped my buddy install an onboard Guest charger to his older pro-v. His system utillized the 24V in the battery compartment(jumper from + of #1, to - of #2). We hooked the charger up to both batteries as one would think, + and - to #1, and the same for #2. After reading some earlier posts, to charge this system you need to remove the jumper or possibly fry the system. This has not been the case(or at least not yet). He has charged this way a half dozen times with no problem. Am I missing something? I'm in need of a little charger 101. Thanks in advance,
gb

You are fine for your particular charger, because you have two "fully independent" chargers. If you have two independent chargers you will be fine.
The problem with frying comes in - if you have a 2 or 3 bank on board charger with a common ground. Fry --!!!
Enjoy and stay charged.

I don't know of any quality on-board charging systems of recent vintage that do not have each bank electrically isolated from the other. No need to remove any jumpers. There was a bit of miss-information spread in an earlier issue of Bass and Walleye Boat that advised removing the jumper between the batteries but they've received enough feedback by now to make a future correction.

I agree with the previous posts. I have 2 boats, one with Guest 2 bank charger and the other with a Professional Mariner 3 bank charger. The literature for both onboard chargers indicate you do not have to remove the jumper.
