I keep reading threads about anonymous posts and I just wonder if people can see my info. If not, what did I do wrong and how do I correct it. I love this format and love to chip in two cents every now and then. Just want to know if I currently am upsetting people because my info is "anonymous".

Thanks!!

Most of us are taught at a younger age to not say anything behind someone's back that we would not say to their face.

Why should email be any different than face to face talking. This means to leave a real email address when you criticize someone else or a product. This gives them the opportunity to speak to you directly thereby increasing the chances that the differences can be working out in a respectful way.

It is important to realize that it can be real hard to determine if someone is just joking around sometimes, since no one can see your facial expresions.

People are also more liking to believe something they read, when they would ignoring some story at the bar at false gossip.

Just my opinion.

Hi Dan Taylor of Rock Valley, Iowa. How 'bout dem Twins!

Hans

PS: I don't mind people posting with nicknames, so long as their profile allows me to figure out who they "really" are.

I don't know Hans, he could be a Cubs fan. His profile says he likes baseball and there hasn't been much of that being played in the MetroDome until this year. Hope they can keep it up and re-invigorate their fans.

how's everything in Rock Valley? Your profile is viewable to members. I find it interesting that those who point at anomynous posters rarely have an little head icon next to their name. I interpret that as they are not registered users, as this is a public forum. If you've taken the time to register, I assume that you're on the up & up as much as anyone who leaves an email addy. I don't leave my email addy on public forumns as I've been spammed in the past, it had nothing to do with WC.

Also, I leave messages on a "message board" my messages can be viewed by all and I like to work on the board. If I were exchanging personal info and making arrangements with an individual, I would leave my email so we can work behind the message board and not waste the time and space of everyone else. That's just my MO, others may work behind the board more, by using direct email to individuals, that's cool, it's their preference.

caveat: I'm speak only for myself on this topic.

Thanks to all of you. Before today, I swear the head icon was either not there or not functioning! That takes care of my question. Thanks!!

Nickname I got as a freshman in high school with size 15 shoes. Football coach gave me the nickname and it stuck. A lot of people from my college days wouldn't know me by my real name.

I'm not a registered member here, but do enjoy most of the reading. I've also learned a few things since I found WC, the first of the month. I just don't see why I should register. I have my opinions, as all do. I don't expect you to believe me or change your opinion because I'm a registered user. I expect you to listen because I'm adding value to a conversation. Not weather I'm registered!!

I guess I don't see the value in registering?? Am I missing something obvious??

Registering with this message board wasn't the best option for me, because, it was explained, others who use my e-mail provider (Hotmail) weren't all good citizens. So, my registration wasn't accepted. I was told I could switch my e-mail to another provider, and I could register. My experience has been that Hotmail rarely is "down", and the price is right, so I chose to stick with it.

Hey Gang,

You dont have to register. But if you do you get to let people see your profile. If you dont register, just leave a valid e mail.

Have fun.....R

Hey Waterfowler,

Registering prevents anyone from logging on as you and swearing like a fool. It also offers a little credibility to your posts as people know it is actually you, and people are more inclined to put weight behind your opinion.

have fun.......R

I agree with Jessie-WI, on his original post regarding this topic. If you have something to say about anything on this sight feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, or opinions. That's what WC is about and the intent of this sight. It is a forum for friends and walleye anglers to share and discuss a variety of topics that would otherwise be impossible without this medium. If you do so and you feel strongly about what you are sharing with others tell them who you are. I recognize others may not agree with my thoughts or opinions and that's just life. However, I want them to know that it is me who is providing the input. That's the way it should be. Good fishing and I'll see you on the water!

Registering also lets you edit a post you made errors on, be it grammar, context or in my case most of the time with bad judgement.
