My old AutoPilot just went "belly-up" this past weekend. I am looking into the new PowerDrive or Maxxum. Any opinions?

I prefer the cable driven maxxum. I hate that little powerdrive pedal and how slow it turns...especially when you get low on battery juice and have the speed up to 8-10. Having the electric steer drains the battery too. I also find the maxxum easier to pull up and deploy with the gator type mount. I have owned a few powerdrive/autopilots before my current maxxum and will never go back.

Minkota fixed the slow turning speed on the Autopilots and Powerdrives. They are now nearly twice as fast as they used to be. They also re-did the deploy catch. Works pretty slick now, no more wrestling to get the motor down.
I've had both, I prefer the electric steer over the cable.
I'd agree. Have a new Autopilot and it works much better than the older versions. Have no complaints with my trolling motor.
