Do any of you guys running HPDI's use the add-on Yamaha 10-micron filter on your outboards?
The Yam website says it is "highly recommended for all EFI and HPDI engines".

Has everybody dropped the extra hundo for this unit, or does the filter on the motor cut the mustard?
My HPDI is on the way!

Basically what you are buying is a water separating fuel filter also. I think the kit is around $32.00 and I have put it on every motor I have owned, carb or fuel injected. It ia cheap insurance so you don't have problems. I run a 225hp EFI and believe me I go though the gas.......... BUY THE KIT

I wish that they were just $32.
The Yamaha website link above says the 10-micron filter or whatever lists for just under $100.
I know that there are quite a few HPDI runners out there...are any of you guys running this filter??

I do not run it on my HPDI. I wasn't even aware of it. I don't plan on making any changes. I don't recall talking about it with the dealer either.

The unit I put in is a standard unit that filters 36 microns. I think it would be better then no filter at all and there is also a filter in the motor. You are right the 10 micron one is $100.00 .

I was not aware of this either.
Thanks for the info.
What about the filter on the motor, should that be checked?
And can you provide any instruction on how to tell if the motor filter needs to be emptied, changed, or replaced?
Again, thanks for the tip.
