I have a 95 70 hp Johnson with an external oil injector which unfortunately decided to quick working. Motor is fine. Can I just switch over to mixing my own oil in the fuel tank and if so is there anything that I would need to do to the motor to "shut off" the oil injector that doesn't work?

My 94 OMC 90hp did the same thing three times-last time was it at $300
a pop to fix the VRO. Yanked out the unit and tank and replaced with a straight fuel pump. Your oil injection system is integrated into the fuel pump-does it run ok except for the oiler? If you know which wires to cut to disable the oil alarm, should still work if you premix. I don't mind and it is a lot more reliable. Friend has the same engine, a couple of years older, that has the original VRO in it yet without any problems. I suspect mine may have been damaged the first time by running the engine at below-zero temps while hunting.
That oil was as thick as ---!
