electric winches

Anybody out there using an electric winch to load their boat? Any information, pro or con would be appreciated. Have a 17' aluminum hull with 95 horse on it. Not sure of the total weight. What brand name winch and size would you recommend? A lot of places that I fish don't allow power loading.

Lee-Had a Powerwinch on my last boat and it worked great. One suggestion, however, get a size larger than you might think you'll need. I too had a 17 ft. aluminum with 115 HP and kicker. The 4000 lb. that sold for about $300. was perfect. Also I had the strap rather than the cable and this was really a nice feature. The only place I've seen the winches with straps is in the Overton's catalog. If you check with Powerwinch there probably are other sources-Tom

My wife bought one for me for fathers day a few years back. I returned it because I was convinced it would be stolen at the landing. Anyone ever heard of this or am I paranoid.
