I am thinking about upgrading from a Mercury 150EFI to a Mercury 200EFI. Besides more out of pocket expense, can I have input on this engine. Has anyone had any problems? Are you happy with it? Reliability and maintenance? I am putting it on a Lund Tyee 1850. Any input, good or bad greatly appreciated!
Will the 1850 Tyee take a 200HP? I thought the max rating was 175. I own a Merc 175EFI and it is very reliable.

Yes it will take a 200hp rated OB. This is direct out of the Lund catalog. For some reason I thought it would only take a 175, but noticed the other day it stipulates 200hp. Can you tell me about the performance of your 175EFI? What size/type of prop are you running? thanks for responding!
I checked the 2002 Lund catalog and it does say the Tyee 1850 is rated for a 200HP, but then on the back page....the specs list it for a 175HP max. Somewhere a typo exists...as the Tyee 1950 is also rated at 200HP. I'd give Lund a call and verify the inconsistency.
Anyway...I am running a 21P Laser II stainless prop on my 1999 175EFI. Hole shot is good and top end speed is upper 40's (1900 Pro V). Aside from normal maintenance, I've had no problems with the motor.

I run a 200 Merc 200 EFI and have not had any problems with it at all. I have had it for 3 years and run it on a Yarcraft 192 Michigan loaded to the hilt with a kicker, 4 batteries, downriggers, 49 gal of gas ect... Anyway I have been running a 21 stiletto on it and can run anywhere from 50-55 mph gps.
