My brother qualifies for disabled veteran license in his home state of Minnesota, but there is no reciprocity. Wisconsin and other states charge the full non-resident fee.
His disabilities stem from Agent Orange in Vietnam. He's had or has just about all types of cancer. Only about 5 years ago did the Feds finally accept responsibility for the ailments he and thousands of other disabled vets acquired while serving our country.
Here's the issue -- No veteran since the Civil War was a soldier of the state he lived in. They served the United States. That's 50 for all vets since Vietnam -- and, of course, US territories.
College students can get resident licenses in the state where they go to school and also in their "home" state. Convicts under correctional system supervision can fish free. Active duty service men and women can fish as residents.
Let's do a little lobbying to get some consideration for disabled vets -- nationwide.
