Where's the bite? DNR has been stocking the H out of the lakes in Northeast Indiana. Anybody know how to catch a few?
I hear Big Turkey may be a good spot. And Pretty Lake. But haven't fished them.

Try below the Dams at Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman.Near Monticello. Caught more walleyes there in one weekend last fall than all my trips to Wisconsin all last year.

Hi Folks,
I live in South Bend And was raised in Plymouth about 2 miles from lake of the Woods. Their are several lakes and rivers in N Indiana that are home to lots of "eyes", like any place else each lake holds it's own secrets. Take Lake Of The Woods, It's what I call a dark water lake and you'll most likly find the "eyes" in one of two places, Shallow or high in the water column and one would think that you need to present a lure slower then in clear water, not ture in this case most fish are caught trolling over 2.5 mph. and as fast as 4.5 mph. I would be glad to help with info on most any body of water in this part of the state, just drop me an E-mail.

There are walleyes in many bodies of water now in Indiana. The Indiana DNR has been responding to the desires of walleye fishemen in this state and my own personal feeling is that it gets better each year. That isn't to say that we don't still have quite a way to go but Indiana's stocking program does not have a twenty year history. All of the state's brood stock comes from Brookville Reservoir and then different lakes either receive fry (Bass Lake) or fingerlings (Monroe Reservoir) Lighten up just a bit regarding 'eyes in Indiana, it can only get better. I spent a week fishing Monroe Reservoir from May 14 to May 19, caught many fish, 'eyes among them. This multi-species impoundment is a wonderful fishery, from wipers (big ones) to 'eyes, channel and flathead cats, slab crappies, and bass. My biggest 'eye caught that week was a 26" 5# 12 ounce beautiful fish that hit a leech. The 'eyes are out there in certain waters and you have to target them.
My brother, my son, and I fished a lake in NW Indiana Fri. evening and came home with three nice eating size 'eyes. Nice supper last night. Nuff said.

River Rat: Would you mind sending me your email address? I assume you fish the St. Joseph and possibly even up in Mi. Below the dam at Berrien Springs is a good place for 'eyes. Admittedly not Indiana but close enough for anyone in the northern tier of counties in Indiana.

Cisco,
How news travels fast, however someone failed to also tell you that it was released, after several photos ( you know "proof") That one did actully get caught in Indiana. So there's still a chance of catching one here.

Inland walleye a whole other ballgame, make it a dark day for starters and bait the sun. Almost every lake with public access in Both Indiana and Michigan. Those larger Indiana resvoirs will hold some serious water as well. So many to fish!
