I plan on fishing somewhere in North Dakota the end of July. I have never fished there and will be accompanied by my Dad and a friend. We've discussed fishing Sak but I'm wondering if Devils Lake might be a better choice as there's a Tourney on Sak at the time we plan on going. We all live in and fish South Dakota and where hoping to get away from pressured areas, hoping we could still find this in North Dakota. Any info on lodging and suggestions of areas to fish are welcome. Thanks in advance. I can be reached at: denherderj@hotmail.com

The days of low pressure are gone. The big reservoir will be low this year, so the fishing is expected to be easier than normal. That brings the boats!
Devils Lake has been discovered by Minnesotans and Iowegians. I was at Graham's island campground a couple times last summer, and found myself surrounded by out-of-state vehicles both times. They weren't bad people, but DL isn't a secret anymore.

Does that make you a Northern Dakotegion?

Well I guess you know where I'm from. I have ice fished Devils Lake. Got info off of Tony Deans web site. The casino has rooms for 2 in the 70.00 range with all the entertainment. If you need a bare bones place the Trails west for about 40.00 is right in town. We found to frequent the small diners in town are a great deal - steak and eggs for 2.99 and an out of state license for 12.00. Now that may have changed this year and I hope nobody takes offence to an out of stater leaving some money there. I make many trips to SD. as well and have always been treated well.

Yah, sure, you betcha. The mayor of Lillejamer is my late father's first cousin, you know. My wife's maiden name is Erickson. My kids got Sons of Norway scholarships to Concoria. How ****ed Norwegian would you like me to be?
"House and garden" to you too.

It's "Iowan" not Iowegion, thats all. Absolutely nothing to do with you being or not being Norwegion.

Hmm. The Iowans who came here after their ammonia plant closed, use the other term.

That must have had something to do with all those years of breathing in that ammonia. They must have forgotten their heritage! Good Fishing
