I have to decide on a prop for my Lund 2025 Pro V SE that will be ready for pickup around April 19. It will be pushed by a Mercury 200 HP EFI. I will run the boat mostly on Lake Erie, Detroit River, Saginaw Bay, and Lake Huron. I will probably spend more time running in choppy water as to calm water. The dealer looked in a book and said it recommended a 21 pitch prop.

Any one with experience that could suggest 3 blade or 4 blade, pitch, SS or AL, and manufacturer? Would like a description why with any good suggestions. I am not looking for tweaking out the engine to the last MPH. I am looking to own the boat for many years and would like good solid all around reliability and performance for the motor and prop.

Thanks

I have posted this several times so I sound like a broken record. So here is what I found out baout your rig after testing several props that a 19p Tempest would be the my first choice and 19P Mirage would be second. Some guys will tell you a Lazer II but the prop does not have as much bit as the Tempest or Mirage, believe me I tested it. The 21 is to steep if the boat is fully loaded and the Mirage and Tempest have great bow lift and you will need that because the 2025 has a heavy hull....... Thesr are 3 blade props

I am running a 2002 IFS. Boat came with a 19P vengence prop. The dealer said they have experimented around and this prop seems to suit the hull and motor (225 Optimax). Excellent hole shot, 56 MPH at 5650 RPM's. plenty of bow lift.

I HAVE THE SAME MOTOR BUT A 1900 PRO V LE. I AM EXPECTING IT AT THE END OF APRIL. WHAT PROP SHOULD BE USED ON IT? IT IS LIGHTER THAN THE 2025,DOES THAT MEAN ANYTHING? ANY RESPONSES WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I completely agree with PJM. I have a 200 Opti on a 2025. A Laser II works OK, but a Tempest is better (haven't tried a Mirage). Tried a small-hub Trophy (4-blade) and it didn't work at all - spun out on holeshot. A 21 prop won't give you enough rpm when loaded - go with a 19.

Seriously think about a High Five prop. I have a 21 pitch one on my Traga 1900 with 150 XR6. I fish the same water you do and it makes a big difference in the choppy seas. I gives me a great hole shot and doesn't seem to decrease the top speed. It also the same price as a comparable 4 blade prop. I can't comment on the right pitch but for heavy seas the High Five is the way to go.

I would demo a 19p and a 21p Tempest with the motor raised up 1 hole for starter. The guy that posted that his boat went 56mph with a Vengence is suspect. All a Vengence prop is a stainless version of the aluminum Blackmax prop so it's not a performance prop.

PJM,
Do you know who carries the Tempest props in Southeast Michigan? About how much does one cost?

Any Mercury dealer would have one but I would get in a Flo-Torq because it then will fit different motors. Here is a place on the net www.marine-outboards.com/Props_Boat_Propellers_Pages/tempest-plus-propeller.htm just to get and idea of price. This look like list price.........
