Here is the problem...1st part. 95 Pro V SE Fixed base seat, air ride pedestal behind console. Pedestal will raise, but will not stay up when you sit on it. My question is there a fix or a common solution to this problem other than replacing with new.
2nd part. (I know I have seen previous posts addressing this issue but no luck finding them w/ a search) Is there way to keep standard taper-lock style pedestals from sticking in their bases?
Thanks

There is a philips screw on the bottom of the pedastal pole. Tightening it will take care of the slippage most of the time.
Every season I give a squirt of WD 40 in the holes and they pop right out all the time. They say not to lubricate at all, due to the posibility of it comming out under power so you have to make a judgement call on that one. People have also used wax, pledge, silicone spray to keep them from sticking.

I believe you have to remove the seat to get at the phillips screw.
DO NOT LUBE THE BASES!! Very unsafe practice.

Yeah, I won't mention his name but I know this fellow that bought a new boat and was having trouble with the pedistals sticking. So he decided to lube them up. (He was to dense to see the Instruction label attached on the pedistal) Anyhow, His dear wife had a seat come out on her while the boat was under full power, and he had it happen to him when he was in the front running the Bow mounted trolling motor. He ended up on the floor beside the driver console. The folks on shore musta really had a good laugh about that one.
Said fool then noticed the DO NOT LUBRICATE sticker, and cleaned it all off. Now he fights with the pedistal versus breaking his neck, so he can still post on Walleye Central.....

Tap the pedestal a few times with a 2 X 4. This seems to break free what ever is sticking.

Pack ice around the base and let it sit a few minutes. Should come out pretty easy after that!!

My experience with the Springfield type pedastals are limited but here Is what I have seen. 2002 Prov 1900 IFS. Less than 2 hours on the water. This is the fixed pedastal on the passenger side. The roll pins that hold the upright post to the base came out and the post went down through the deck. Not a very warm and fuzzy feeling in 3 -4 foot waves. Dealer said they have never seen this before, but lund will send me a new assembly. Has any one ever seen this?
