Looking for information on Battery Chargers. If I am going to run a 24 volt system for trolling motor and have 1 battery for the cranking battery/accessories, do I want to go with a 2 bank charger or 3 bank charger? I say three bank but my friends are saying save your money and go with just the 2 bank for your trolling batteries since the motor will charge your crank battery. Any input appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

Last year when I purchased my new boat I had the same question.
I was told that I will only need a 2 bank charger, but I thought
it would be better to have the 3 bank charger. I bought the 3 bank
and I'm glad I did, one reason is that most days I am trolling
around with my electric motor and not using the big motor. So how
is that charging my starting battery which is used for depth finders
and the radio etc. For the extra few dollars get the 3 bank you
won't be sorry.

good luck

A Guest 2623 is the perfect answer for your question. Having you starting battery fully charged before a fishing adventure is a bonus also. No start, No fish.....

I recommend getting the 3-bank. I debated whether to spend the money, and am glad I did because it so very convenient. I got a Pro SE 10-10-10 amp and had a Marinco plug installed on the starboard wall towards the transom. I just reach into the transom to plug the extension cord in - very convenient!

Another consideration is winter charging 1x per month to maintain a charge on all 3 batteries to assure they don't freeze.

I, too, would go with the three bank. I have a Guest 2631 (10x10x10)in my boat, with two leads going to each TM battery, and one lead going to two strating/accessory batteries in parallel. You could save a few bucks and go with the 2623 as Dutchman suggests (10x10x3), and it would serve you well. I happened to win the 2631, so it was a no-brainer for me.
