View Full Version : Spinner Trolling Speed
Will I be able to troll a spinner rig baited with a night crawler slow enough. Ill be using a 16 ft Lund Rebel with a 40hp 2cycle mercury. With that big of motor will I be going to fast at idle to get fish ?
Thanks for your inputs.

You will be fine. If you want to go slower yet,, backtroll.

We try to go very slow and a presentation very similiar to jigging has worked well for us. We use a 2 or 3 hook "little joe" w/nightcrawler, just enough weight to get it to the bottom, and move enough to cover some water. If conditions are right we will drift and use the electric to control direction. Back trolling works well like the previous email. Many times they hit very light. When you feel a little wight, move your arm back so as to give a little slack, and if you feel weight when you pick up slack, set hook (not a big jerk) with a steady pull. Tight lines

Cat,
You can also use a drift sock while you are trolling to slow you down if you want too. Just make sure the spinner blades are spinning.
