I purchased my first NEW boat last Aug(2001). I am very disappointed to say, I couldn't be more UNhappy. The only thing that has not been a problem is the Yamaha F115. One thing now is the areas under the dash are taking on water. It seems to splash on the windshield and run down into the two areas under the dash somehow. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have a '98 Sportfish and have only had water come into the under console area when in the very worst of conditions like 4 footers and cross winds as it runs off the gunnel or windshield and drains down where ever it can. I must admit however that under usual circumstances and normal conditions I try and stay in control of my boat and keep the ride dry. You may want to work on keeping the boat on top of the water instead of under it if your getting excessive water inside the cockpit under good boating conditions.. Good luck and keep the throwable handy..

Mort-
I have a 2000 S/F. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the windshield and cowling are a different design on your boat than on the pre 2001 models.

My windshield is attached directly to the boat, not to a plastic, I'll call it a "riser" piece.
I have a little water that gets between the windshield and the dash, I think a little clear silicone should fix that. I dont have any leaks under the dash, though.

Hi Morgage man
I beleive your problem is the line/hose coming from the motor for your speedo is not secure at your instrument console or has a pin hole in it. Thus causing to spray water under your dash and storage area. I have never had any water in my compartments or under the dash for any reason, should be a 10 second fix.

I have a 2001 1850 Sportfish and the windshield is raised up like yours. I've head that boat through some of the roughest water you could think of and never had a problem with any under the dash except for one time, and that was like Gatekeeper mentioned. The tube going to the speedo from the motor wasn't sitting right and it was spraying water once in a while. The only thing I can say is to crawl under there and have someone spray it with a hose and see if there is water coming in. I did this to find a leak in the windshield on my SportCraft. The one thing I don't get is that the shell the windshield is sitting on is a double layer, so it would be hard for water to leak through both. Can you keep me posted on what happens with it incase I ever have a problem with it?

I am sure about the design, but mine is mounted on plastic. I have tried the Silicon, no luck.

Thanks

Mortgage Man,
The problem is probably the speedo tube. Had a Crestliner ProAm and that happened pretty regularly. If it happens when its moving it probably is that.
